New Puppy Training

You Have a New Puppy!

Congratulations on your up coming new lively and loving Australian terrier ! To help you prepare, I recommend considering the following essential items:

  • Crates: Start with a small crate for your puppy and have a larger one ready that they can grow into.
  • Exercise Pen: An 8-panel pen (36” high) is ideal for an Australian Terrier.
  • Linoleum, an end of roll or cut to size: Place this under the exercise pen to protect your floors during the early days of house training. Tape down. Should be larger than x pen.
  • Durable Tug Toys: Great for play and bonding.
  • Baby Collar and Leash: Keep in mind your puppy will outgrow these within a few months.
  • Next Collar: Upgrade to a Martingale collar, which combines a chain and fabric for safety and control.
  • Chew Sticks (Large): Help satisfy your puppy’s chewing needs.
  • Beef Tendons: These are a favorite for puppies but tend to lose appeal as they mature and aren’t ideal for long-term dental health.
  • House Training Materials: Review these repeatedly to stay consistent with house-training. No one likes a puppy doing its biz in the house – focus on this training right away.

At Tidewalker, we will provide a crate that your puppy can grow into, along with a mat for the crate, leash, collar, and likely some toys to get you started. Every puppy also comes with a Contract. CKC Registration. First of 3 puppy shots (DHPP). De worming. Microchip registered with the CKC and in file with our vet. Medical Certificate. 3-4 generation Pedigree. A personally assembled, resource manual for Training and Health ideas for you and your new puppy. Plus our commitment to be available for Training and Health ideas or questions for the life of the Aussie.

This list is a great foundation for welcoming your new puppy into a happy and healthy home!
